My name is Nuri Durr. I am a character designer and illustrator based in Atlanta, GA. Across social media I use the pseudonym ActionHankBeard (Yes, the name is inspired by Dexter’s Laboratory.)

Though originally from Chicago, my family moved to Atlanta when I was still young and this is where i’ve lived ever since. I attended Georgia State University in 2014 and for a brief period I worked as a caricature artist. Later that same year I made the decision to pursue a career in art full time, which was uncharted territory for me to say the least. With the support of my family I dedicated more time to sharpening my skills and to learning how to leverage my growing social media presence to open myself up to various ongoing opportunities.

I’m a child of the late 80’s so it’s no surprise that much of my art is fueled and directly inspired by nostalgia from that era. Saturday morning cartoons, comics and of course games. Personally, I think you’re able to do your best work when you just do that which makes you happy. So that’s what I’ve tried to build my career around. When i’m not working full time I love working traditionally more than anything else. There’s a certain positive feedback loop I get from creating a traditional art with my hands that I can’t really get anywhere else. And in the end you have a tangible piece of art that you can share with the world. During my “free” time I enjoy streaming and recording where I can share my process, talk about my experiences and just be a goofball.
